Welcome to Reach Grenada

Our mission

REACH Grenada aims to enhance the wellbeing and to promote the continual growth and healing of Grenada's children by providing expertise and resources in the areas of recreation, education, agriculture, community and health.

We wish to effect positive change through the collaborative effort of an expansive network of givers and doers, as we believe that everyone has a talent or time to share and the capacity to reach others, whether near or far. Our philosophy is that the 'circle of life' and the continuity of loving support should not be broken by calamity or loss and that all children should be given equal opportunity to learn and grow.

Our prevailing commitment is to evolve into a financially stable and self-sustaining organization through 'social enterprise' initiatives that involve the distribution of Grenadian 'cacao' so that REACH Grenada may transcend external dependencies and exist in perpetuity.

Why Grenada?

In September 2004, the beautiful Caribbean island of Grenada was devastated by Hurricane Ivan and then again by Hurricane Emily in February 2005. The majority of Grenadian homes, schools, churches, community and health facilities were damaged or destroyed, leaving many without basic shelter or refuge.

Why Grenada?Four years on, much of Grenada still grapples with a dearth of basic supplies and yet there is a more critical need for training and the development of expertise - those gifts that cannot be washed away in a hurricane. It is our conviction that if we “give a man a fish he eats for today and if we teach a man to fish he eats for a lifetime”. This age-old Chinese adage is the driving force behind the creation of our teacher and health care worker training programs and is the inspiration for a cluster of self-sustainability projects that feed REACH Grenada.
